Top 3ds Max Plugins for Architecture Visualization

Top 3ds Max Plugins for Architecture Visualization

Using scripts and plugins in your workflow can significantly improve work with 3ds Max. It also helps you save a lot of time and effort and allows you to focus on the creative part of your project.

Below I would like to present to you my favorite 3ds Max plugins that I use all the time in architecture visualization.

So, let's start with the first one:

  • Forest pack

Forest Pack is one of the most popular plugins for 3ds Max. It’s a really efficient scattering tool for 3ds Max. It’s developed by Itoo Software and designed to randomly distribute and modify any objects in your scene.

It can be used with a variety of render engines, and it comes with an extensive library of 3d models and presets.

The plugin uses proxies so it can keep your scene optimized. And while it’s known for vegetation landscape design, it can also be used for other purposes like populating buildings, scattering light, crowds, and any object you can think of.

Price: has a free lite version.

The full version costs 220 euros a year.

  • Rail clone

Also developed by Itoo Software, Rail clone is a comprehensive parametric modeling and spline-cloning plugin for 3ds Max.

Parametric modeling is an approach to 3D design that helps create 3d models based on a set of rules. It can save a lot of time and effort when modeling complex repetitive objects.

This plugin is a user-friendly tool that helps you create all sorts of procedural objects. It can build objects by distributing and manipulating standard geometry and turning them into more complex meshes.

And just like Forest Pack, it also comes with a built-in library extensive library of 3d models. It combines 3ds Max’s spacing, array tools, and path deform modifier in one simple easy-to-use plugin.

Price: has a free lite version.

The full version costs 220 euros a year.

  • Floor Generator

Floor Generator is a plugin that generates different floor objects that consist of individual Parts. It's one of the most useful tools for interior design visualization and can also be used for exterior scenes.

The plugin comes with various types of floor patterns that can be customized by editing the length and width of each floorboard and the distance between them. You can also control the height and bevel of each one and create a random preset for a more realistic floor.

Price: It has a free version.

The full version costs 20 euros.

  • MultiTexture

MultiTexture is a plugin that can be used in combination with the floor generator. It can load different textures and assigns them randomly. It can also use color correction tools (e.g. hue, saturation, gamma) on a randomly assigned object to provide a realistic feeling.

The plugin is compatible with a variety of render engines.

  • Connector
Searching for the 3d models or textures that you downloaded on your computer can be a very tedious and daunting task. The bigger your library collection, the more time it would take to find exactly what you are looking for. Organizing your asset on your PC using a hierarchical file system is a bit unwieldy. You’ll have to use only one method to organize it whether it’s by company, type, category, room, or color. And you won’t be able to add different tags for each element.

Connector is assets management for all 3d assets that can work with most known 3d software. It has a visual index that makes organizing and browsing your asset libraries way more efficient and less time-consuming.

After you organize all your assets in connector, all you have to do is simply drop and drag your asset inside the software you are using.

You can add and organize different formats of 3d models, textures, material libraries, IES files, and HDRI images to your library
